The Vienna BioCenter is now accepting applications for its Austrian Summer School. For undergraduates majoring in the life sciences at one of Europe’s premier research institutes, a 9-week research program is being offered.
The Vienna Biocenter Summer School offers about 20 undergraduate students the chance to work side-by-side with distinguished scientists in a dynamic scientific setting.
The program aims to entice outstanding students from all over the world, providing a lively and varied atmosphere. It is the best training for those who want to pursue graduate work in the life sciences.
Qualified candidates get housing, a travel allowance, and a stipend for the duration of the scholarship.
Every year, the program begins on the last Friday in June and ends on the last Friday in August (or the 31st).
Research Project
- Each Fellow Will Work Closely With A Faculty Member Whom They Are Assigned. In The Allotted Lab, The Research Study Shall Center On A Current Issue.
- The Scholar Will Be Required To Do Experiments, Evaluate Data, Create Suggestions, And Discuss Their Findings With Assistance From A Member Of The Laboratory.
- The Scholar Will Participate In Lab Meetings, Journal Clubs, And Other Activities In Addition To Actual Laboratory Work.
Participating In Labs/Open Positions
19 labs from numerous disciplines are participating in the Vienna Biocenter Summer School this year. In Molecular Biology, Neurology, Immunology, Bioinformatics, RNA Biology, Stem Cells, And Biochemistry, There Are A Wide Variety Of Research Projects Accessible.

Eligibility Criteria
You must be pursuing a degree in a field related to the life sciences and possess one of the following:
Completed At Least 2 Years Of A University Study (E.G., 2-3 Years Of A Bachelor (Hons) Study Or 1 Year Of A Master Study – By June 30) As Follows:
- (I) In Year 3 of a 4-year BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in a Life Science Related Subject
- (Ii) In Year 4 of a 4-year BA (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in a life science-related subject WITH an acceptance or intention to apply to a master’s program (this will be checked later).
- (Iii) An MSc in a life science-related subject in Year 1 of a two-year master’s program.
- (Iv) In Year 2 of a US Undergraduate Bachelor in a Life Science Related Subject
- (V) In Year 2 Of A 4-Year BTech (India) In A Life Science Related Subject
- 3-Month Research Experience
- Good academic record
- High Level Of English Language
- Evidence Of Enrollment In A University Program For The Current Academic Year And The Next Year (If Possible)
- Important Information for MD Applicants MDs May Only Apply If They Have Completed 3–4 Years Of Their Studies And Have The Relevant Research Experience. They Must Also Intend To Study A PhD In A Life Science Related Subject After Completion Of Their Current Studies.
Social Work
Those interested in the social program will be happy to learn that an active social calendar complements the scientific program. This includes an opening dinner, excursions to well-known Vienna locations, a visit to a heurigen, a celebration of the end of summer school, as well as our regular Friday night social events and other campus activities.
How to apply
Students (BA Hons., Master, MSc.) from all over the world who are undergraduates or master’s students and have finished at least two years of university study in a field related to the life sciences are invited to apply.

The application process and deadlines
Students who are interested should fill out the online application. Candidates Will Be Requested to Include the Names of Three Lab Heads in Their Preferred Order While Applying.
The Vienna BioCenter Summer School will use its best efforts to place applicants in one of these laboratories, but there is no guarantee that they will be.
Also, you will be required to describe your academic and research background.

The call began on December 1, 2022, and ends on January 31, 2023 (2359 CET).
Findings Are Disclosed On March 15
Summer classes begin on July 1 (or the last Friday in June).
Summer session ends on August 31 (or the last Friday in August).
Note: Students from all over the world who are undergraduates or master’s students and have finished at least two years of university study in a field related to the life sciences are welcome to apply to the Vienna BioCenter Summer School. There is no application fee.
