About Ambrose Alli University

Ambrose Alli University (AAU) is one of the prestigious state-owned institutions founded in 1981 in Edo State. The University was named after Ambrose Folorunsho Alli, the governor of Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States). 

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has certified and recognised AAU, which was first known as Bendel State University, then Edo State University, and eventually its current name in honour of Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli.

Ambrose Alli University Admissions

Nigerian universities have unified conditions that every student aspiring to be admitted into any of the institutions must meet. 

Students interested in getting admission into any tertiary institution must:

  • Be 16 years and above
  • Have a secondary school testimonial or letter of recommendation from the principal.
  • Have a letter of reference from a reputable person who can vouch for you as being respectable and worthy of studying in the school. 

General AAU Admission Requirements

Aside from the conditions, each university has admission requirements peculiar to it. For AAU, they offer two types of admissions. You can either be admitted as a UTME candidate or a Direct Entry.

For UTME Candidates

  • Candidates must have at least 5 credit passes in O’Level (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) results, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.
  • Meet the minimum UTME cut-off mark (160 or higher for competitive courses).
  • Choose AAU as their first choice during UTME registration.

 For Direct Entry Candidates

  • Must possess at least two A-Level passes or equivalent in relevant subjects.
  • Hold a National Diploma (ND), National Certificate of Education (NCE), or Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of merit.
  • Meet O’Level requirements.

Ambrose Alli University’s cut-off mark 2025/2026

Although AAU is yet to release their cut-off mark, they are likely to still have same cut-off mark as last academic session, which is between 140-240 for various faculties. 

Ambrose Alli University Admission Procedures

Once you applied for AAU Admission and complete the screening processes, you are to check your admission status online. 

To do that, visit AAU admission portal and accept the admission on the JAMB CAPS. Don’t forget to upload your WAEC/NECO results to the JAMB CAPS because awaiting results will not be accepted.

Afterwards, accept Admission on JAMB CAPS. Often check “Check Admission” on the University portal for your new student ID and password.

Please note: Candidates who have not accepted their admission on the JAMB CAPS page will not have their Student ID and password created on the portal.

PLEASE NOTE: Only candidates who applied through JAMB for UTME Admission, chose Ambrose Alli University as First Choice and scored 140 and above are eligible for this screening exercise.

All such candidates must fill in all relevant Certificates/documents (WAEC/NECO/NATEB etc.

Mode of Screening:
The screening exercise would be done ONLINE by screening of qualifying results of candidates.

Instructions

  1. Click on ‘Register for application’ at the top left of this page to proceed.
  2. Enter your surname exactly as written on the JAMB Registration slip, and JAMB Registration number. Immediately, your ID and Password will be displayed on the browser
  3. Click on ‘Login’ (top right of the front page) and enter your username and the password to login..
  4. To start the application process, please click on ‘Edit application record’ and provide all required information.

Payment Instructions

  1. Go to https://aaue.waeup.org/login.
  2. Enter your user name and the password as sent to your email to login.
  3. To make a payment, click ‘Edit application record’.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click on ‘Add online payment ticket’.

Interswitch Payment: ATM-Enabled Verve or Master Card from any commercial Bank.

  1. Click on the Payment_ID of the ticket created.
  2. (ii) Click on ‘CollegePAY’ at the top of your page. A confirmation page will appear to enable you to cross-check your payment details. If ok, Click ‘Submit’ to proceed with the payment through the Interswitch payment gateway.
  3. Select your card type from the ‘drop down’ ( Verve, Visa or Master Card), enter your card details i.e Card number, expiry date, CVV2, pin and click “Pay”.
    Note: Your CVV2 is the 3- digit number printed at the back of your card.

If your payment is successfully validated, click “submit” and print your application slip.
